TRANSCRIPT OF THE EPISODE
Hello and welcome to the very first episode of HHN Talk with Speculation Matt. I am your host, Matthew Prevor, and I’m very excited to finally start off this podcast. First off, be sure to check us out on Instagram and Twitter @hhnspeculationmatt on Instagram and @speculationmatt on Twitter. And we before we jump into the horror, I just need to give a quick shoutout to my friend, Charles, who really convinced me to go ahead and start this. So this would not have been possible without him. So thank you so much, Charles. Anyways, so into the fog we go.
On this podcast, we are going to discuss all the latest news and rumors surrounding the event. We will also have episodes where we dive deep into the lore of the event. And we will also have times where we get the chance to talk to some very special guests. So be sure to stay tuned for all that and more.
Real quick, I just want to discuss my fandom for the event. So I’ve been a huge Halloween Horror Nights fan for at least six years now, and I know that may not seem like a long time to some of you, but I assure you that I have done tons of research on past events and the characters at those events. I just love everything about the event, from the houses all the way down to the pizza fries. This event is amazing and I think we can all agree on that. The amount of effort that goes into this event every year definitely does not go unnoticed by me or I bet any of you. And I am sure we are always constantly counting down to opening night and speculating what the event will be like. So I’m really glad that I now have this opportunity to speculate with all of you.
So real quick, this is just a quick introduction episode, but it would be wrong if I didn’t mention our announcement from March 5th. I know I am very late to this party, but I figure I will share my thoughts. So first off, we have more nights than ever this year, 42 nights of Halloween Horror Nights 30. HHN 30 will be taking place from September 3rd through October 31st. And that is right, it is still called HHN 30. There were tons of rumors going around that they were going to ditch the numbers and go to HHN 2021, but thankfully, we’ll still be getting our 30th anniversary.
They also released a tagline for this year and that is, “Never go alone.” To be honest, I don’t really get what the purpose of this tagline is. It doesn’t really feel right for this year. It kind of feels like something from like HHN 22 or 23 when like everything was The Walking Dead. A lot of people, I think, are agreeing with that and I have to agree with them, so this tagline really doesn’t make me feel like it’s an anniversary year. However, no reason to really be negative because we’re getting an event this year and after what happened last year, I think we are all just relieved to know that in the fall we will be going to Halloween Horror Nights. And Universal did put out – I don’t know if it’s a story – but they put out I guess a little explanation for the tagline, so they say. This is from their website.
Last year we made the difficult decision not to hold Halloween Horror Nights. Now we’re back for our 30th year and we can’t wait to make you scream, experience terrifying haunted houses, sinister scare zones, outrageous live entertainment and some of the park’s most exhilarating attractions. You definitely need someone to cling to, someone to hide behind, somebody to panic with because just as in horror films where the first to wander off meets a terrible fate, there’s one thing to remember at Halloween Horror Nights. Never go alone.
So that’s what was said on the website and it’ll be interesting to see if there’s a deeper meaning to this tagline or maybe this is like a filler tagline and maybe a whole story will get revealed for the event this year and we’ll get a new tagline. I have heard some rumors that this tagline might be related to the rumored Scary Horror of the Heartland Haunted House, so we’ll just have to wait and see.
And finally, we have our first house announcement. Well, technically second, if you count Puppet Theater from back in October, but we will discuss that on a different episode. But our first official announcement that Universal has put on their website, it is going to be Beetlejuice. And Universal says, and this is also from their website:
Say it once, say it twice, say it three times. It’s time to turn up the juice and see what shakes loose as the original film comes to life, more twisted and terrifying than ever. Beetlejuice will haunt, taunt and send you screaming out of the haunted house. He’ll torment you as you wander checkerboard hallways and abandon you to your fate in the Lost Souls room. He’ll menace you through the model graveyard and join in the fun of Dante’s Inferno. Be a part of the infamous dinner party scene and witness Beetlejuice’s chaotic wedding. It’s showtime.
So we’re going to have an episode where we dive deeper into this house, as I was very lucky and got to experience this house eight times when it opened up during the final weekend of Universal’s Halloween Experience this past year. I know people call it HHN Light. But for now, I will just say that I really liked it. I want to see it at its full potential. There were definitely things missing, as we all know it was sort of thrown together at the last minute as far as opening the house, so I’d like to see it with more boo holes filled and hopefully, we will see what the situation is like in September, but hopefully, without plexiglass.
So that is all for this first episode. Thank you so much for joining us for our first episode and be sure to join us for our next episode, where we will break down the speculation map for HHN 30. See you next time and I will see you in the fog.
